Water-green Boulevard (Nurzhol Boulevard) is located in the new administrative and business center of Nur-Sultan, on the left bank of the Ishim river. This is a structure with a pedestrian zone that runs from the Residence of the President “Akorda” to the shopping and entertainment center “Khan Shatyr”. The authorship of the Water-green Boulevard project belongs to the famous Japanese architect Kise Kurokawa.
The tour starts from the residence of the President of Akorda. The project of the Akorda complex was developed by architects of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with European specialists. At the same time, the architecture and design are dominated by the national style. Oriental motifs are clearly visible in the Palace’s ornamentation and are reflected in the numerous use of circles. The total area of all premises inside the building is more than 36,000 sq. m. next to the residence building there are also buildings of the Mazhilis, Senate, Supreme court and the house of Ministries, which is 1 km long.
Then you will walk along the Water-Green Boulevard, where the “Singing fountain” functions in summer. Walking further you will see the building of the monument “Astana-Baiterek”. “Baiterek” means a young, strong, growing tree, and symbolizes a state that has preserved its historical roots, has a strong support and aspiration for future prosperity. The monument is 97 meters high, which means the year when the capital was renamed “Astana”.
Going further, you will see the buildings of the National library and State archive, the Exhibition center “Korme”, and the Keruen Shopping and entertainment center. On the water-green Boulevard there is also one of the main attractions of the city, which attracts the attention of all its guests – the Round square. This is a unique architectural solution that complements the image of the capital as a city of the future. The round square is built in 2 tiers: the lower tier is designed for pedestrians, and the upper one is intended for automobile transport. There are shops and restaurants on the square, and in the center there is a beautiful fountain. The square is decorated with flower beds and various sculptures.
At the end of the tour, you will walk through the Park of Lovers in front of the Shopping and entertainment center “Khan Shatyr”.
